You can create Keyboard shortcuts to open programs. Opening programs this way is often simpler than opening them using your mouse or other pointing devices.
Before you get started you need to create shortcut for the program for which you want to create Keyboard shortcut. To do this open the folder where the file is located, right click the program’s executable file and then click create Shortcut.
- Locate the shortcut of the program that you want to create keyboard shortcut for.
- Right click the shortcut and click on Properties.
- In the Shortcut properties dialogue box click on Shortcut tab.
- Click in the shortcut box, and press the keys which you want to make it as a shortcut for the program with the combination of the keys Ctrl+Alt (Keyboard shortcuts automatically start with Ctrl+Alt) and then click OK.
If administrator password is prompted type the password and provide confirmation.
And now you can use those keys as the shortcuts for the particular program.
Note:
- The word NONE appears in the shortcut key box until you type the key. After typing the key it automatically changes to Ctrl+ Alt + Key you pressed.
- The new shortcuts might not work for the programs which already have a shortcut key.
- You cannot use the Esc, Enter, Tab, Spacebar, PrtScn, Shift, or Backspacekeys to create a keyboard shortcut.
- You can also create keyboard shortcuts to opens files and folders.
